Are robots taking over our jobs ? we've heard this question a couple of times daily since the emergence of the growing technology & robotics industry. Machines, computers, robots, software are the likes are becoming more sophisticated and Secretaries, pump attendants, and even bank tellers are being replaced by their robotic rival in the name of self service. Recent studies show that in the US alone, 47% of employment workforce is threatened by technology breakthrough.
There are only a few manual jobs which so far seem to be unaffected by this change such as truck drivers, however many seem to think of it as a matter of when and not if with the emergence of self driving cars. Regardless humans are vastly superior at work involving creativity, entrepreneurialism, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence so jobs that fall into this category such as therapists, teachers, nurses, clergymen, trainers, entertainers, caretakers and more are safe for now.
While it is an inevitable truth that technology is advancing and most will opt for it as a cheaper and "more efficient" substitution to human labour forcing many into unemployment, optimist see it as an opportunity for those who become unemployed to focus on creative work and freedom to engage in more rewarding endeavours. For every career door technology shuts, there are multiple opportunities for creation of new career path to be explored. There is also the case that just because something can be done doesn't mean it will be done, some humans prefer interacting with other humans and so companies might engage in feedback culture and not substitute your friendly waitress for a robot.
