Bernie Ecclestone who has been the long running chairman has stepped down for Chase Carey to succeed him. The news comes to light as Liberty media completes their takeover and made some changes to the senior management structure. Bernie will retain his title as chairman emeritus and will be consulted on as need be.
So what does this change mean for the sport ? The new management are focusing on long term changes that will have lasting impacts and not short term ones. Brawn in an interview stressed the importance of making the race entertaining for f1 fans and having simplicity as an objective for the future so fans can be able to understand what is going on. Also on their areas of focus and development are race attendance, advertising and sponsorship, race calendar, digital media, assets and increasing tv viewing figures and much more.
2017 race season begins in March, though much change is not expected by then, we are looking forward to see what the new management has in store for the millions of formula 1 fan out there.
