The smartphone company has been under a lot of pressure for a while, since their signature phone the Galaxy Note 7 started exploding on its owners. The Galaxy Note 7 was the company's biggest ever recall, recalling it twice and eventually shelving the device with over 96% of the 3 million phones that were sold recalled.
At a recent press conference in Seoul, Samsung presenting a detailed report announced that after several months of investigation, it concluded that two seperate battery construction issues were the cause of the phones exploding and catching fire. In the wake of the report, Samsung says it has "reassessed every step of the smartphone manufacturing process" and that it has come up with a new "eight-point" battery safety check process including the same investigative techniques that helped solve the Note 7 defects. These steps include factors such as the use of an X-ray machine, and physically disassembling the batteries to look for problems. The company has also "formed a Battery Advisory Group of external advisers, academic and research experts to ensure it maintains a clear and objective perspective on battery safety and innovation"
Samsung is at the top alongside Apple, in both sales and actual usefulness of products . We do hope they bounce back from this and it doesn't affect their sales & stocks anymore than it has already.
